Features
The orange glow that dances off the tree branches lights the way to this unique, three-part establishment comprising izakaya and sake bar Umami, a takeaway tuckshop and restaurant Misuzu’s.
Named after co-owner and sushi chef Misuzu Kawano, Misuzu’s offers innovative contemporary cuisine that breaks the mould of traditional Japanese-style fare and creates curiosity upon first glance of the menu.
Sushi and sashimi are two of the highlights here. Using only A-grade fish, which is delivered fresh every morning, prepared to order and presented in a way that only a master of their craft can, it’s certainly worth ordering a sample of everything.
And no Japanese meal is complete without a bottle of sake. Misuzu’s offers approximately 40 traditional sakes, each sourced on travels around Japan.
Such simple yet intricate pleasures can be lapped up amid dim lighting and a cosy, casual vibe, which make for an excellent backdrop to such subtle and sophisticated flavours.
