Brighton’s Church Street has the boutiques, the coffee and the people-watching. This spring, it’s also getting a Pilates studio worth rearranging your daily routine around – and you can win a three-month membership, plus Lululemon goodies to support your workout.

Love Athletica is opening its newest location in the former Jaggad building in early October, taking over the two-storey space with a 15-bed reformer studio and a 29-mat hot Pilates room. It’s the first dedicated Pilates studio on the strip, running seven days a week with 45- and 50-minute classes across the brand’s signature styles: athletic reformer Pilates, hot mat Pilates, hot functional strength, hot flow yoga and warm yin.

Functional strength reformer is a new class style launching across all of Love Athletica’s locations at the same time the Brighton studio opens. Expect to use dumbbells and loaded springs across timed sets that include squats, hinges, presses and carries, focusing more on the strength training that its members have been asking for.

“It’s load, not layers: simple movements, real resistance, and strength that carries into everyday life, moving well and ageing well,” says co-founder Caroline Knipe. “You should walk out feeling like it’s the best hour of your day.

The details are considered: playlists designed with class moves in mind, welcoming instructors, a community-led focus, yoga-inspired wind-down at the end of each class, and a fine cooling mist to cool you down after a 35-degree session.

The studio is also built for people going straight from class into the rest of their day. There are showers with towels supplied, a vanity bar, lockers, filtered water stations and complimentary hot and iced tea afterwards. That means a smaller gym bag with fewer essentials to carry around the whole day.

To celebrate the opening of the Brighton studio, we’re giving one reader three months of unlimited classes – long enough to learn which leggings stay put through a workout and which top survives a hot room. The prize includes a three-month unlimited membership at Love Athletica Brighton, valued at $975, plus a Lululemon yoga mat, tank top, leggings, water bottle and sweat towel worth $470, for a total prize value of $1445.

Entries open at 5pm on Monday August 31 and close at 11.59pm on Friday October 2, with the winner drawn at 9am on Monday October 5 and contacted by email.

And if you don’t win, no sweat – you can still sweat it out with Love Athletica’s Brighton pre-sale offer and enjoy five classes for just $45. See you on the reformer.
