Ricky’s Meeniyan
Gail and Peter Twigg are north-east Victorian escapees. They switched life by the hot dusty border for something more lush in 2016. They built a rammed earth house, tacked on a guest wing and opened this studio apartment to visitors.
The accommodation is a short stroll to the main street, and only 100 metres from the Great Southern Rail Trail. It’s no surprise Glenleith is popular with both cyclists and music fans headed to gigs at the Meeniyan Town Hall.
A wardrobe divides the room into two spaces, with a bed on one side, and a sitting room and basic kitchen on the other. The bathroom is spacious and kitted out with Sukin natural products. Keeping on the natural theme, the bed is dressed in organic cotton sheets and only recycled timber was used in the build.
Breakfast supplies include organic bananas, locally baked bread, peanut butter, organic muesli and Chiltern honey, but the Twiggs also encourage you to go into town for meals given you’re so close to Moo’s at Meeniyan, Trulli Pizzeria and The Meeniyan Hotel.
There’s wi-fi if you can’t bear to switch off. But also Gail is a trained masseuse, so she can assist in helping you to surrender those niggling city habits.
