If you like your accommodation at the luxe end of the scale, and have up to 11 friends ready for an adventure, then Executive Houseboats and sister company Magic Murray have you covered.

The two-storey houseboats hold up to 12 people. The lower floors have four bedrooms with four en-suites, a lounge room, dining table and a fully equipped kitchen. There’s another kitchen upstairs with a barbeque alongside the heated spa. The upper floors are enclosed, but the glass walls can also fold away to let that river breeze in.

Technically these are boats, but considering all the mod cons, they're more like floating luxury hotels. On-board facilities include a TV, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, ice maker, fridge, Nespresso machine and ducted air-conditioning and heating.

No boat licence is required (you can’t drive too fast in these waters), but you will get a lesson before you take off. You can travel downstream to Torrumbarry Weir where the river gets wider, or simply moor at your favourite quiet spot and alternate between swimming and lazing on the rooftop sun lounges.
