Deep Blue Hotel And Hot Springs
Perched on Warrnambool’s northern foreshore, the Deep Blue Hotel and Hot Springs is a luxurious reward for the road-weary. It opened in 2019 to much fanfare, for its handsome accommodation suites, multiple geothermal rock pools, and a range of experiential wellness spa treatments.
The entire complex is fed by the mineral-rich waters of the Dilwyn Aquifier, a geothermal basin located beneath 850 metres of ancient volcanic rock. Up on the surface, those waters are spread across multiple bathing experiences out in the hotel’s hot spring sanctuary.
Feeling adventurous? There’s a rainforest-themed cave invoking the Otways. Need to relax? Try the aromatherapy pool; permeated by the calming scent of essential oils. Temperatures do vary, but there’s icy plunge pools to cool down in before you grab a healthy bite inside the Nourish Dome cafe and eatery.
As well as a heated indoor pool and Japanese onsen-style bath, the hotel day spa offers a range of rejuvenating treatments. Have a massage or a facial before recharging in the infra-red sauna. Or take a therapeutic moment in the salt room, where aerosolised salt particles safely cleanse your airways.
By this point, you’ll never want to leave. And while you can’t stay forever; the good news is you can stay for a while. The hotel has more than 80 rooms, with everything from a standard suite to a penthouse. But at the very least, stay for dinner at hotel restaurant. The menu is surprisingly relaxed, with crowd-pleasing fare such as burgers, risottos and share plates.
