Tell anyone you’re visiting Daylesford, and conversation will likely turn towards the region’s iconic Lake House. Owned by the Wolf-Tasker family since the late ’70s and transformed from a swamp into a regional destination that champions local makers and producers, its renowned for its restaurant with a heavy-hitting wine cellar, seasonal menus, kitchen gardens, as well as its luxury on-site accommodation.

Produce that isn’t grown on-site comes from Dairy Flat Farm 10 minutes away, a 38-hectare farm that includes an olive grove, an apple orchard, and a bakery. Dairy Flat also has a lodge that may just give Lake House a run for its money; it comprises six suites – two north-facing, two south-facing, and the other two facing the vineyard. Each suite can host up to four guests. For groups of 12, you can book out the entire lodge for exclusive use.

All reservations include breakfast, bread and pastries from the bakehouse, and access to an honour bar. You’ll have free rein of the gardens and other outdoor areas, as well as a hot tub and outdoor games. Picnic baskets, rugs, and electric bikes are also included too.
