Abby’s Cottage

This peaceful cottage in leafy Wandiligong is an ideal spot for some R&R during the cold season. The building makes the most of its apex design, with three mini-levels. The lower tier contains a full kitchen and lounge, gas log heater and a view to the changing tree colours and mountains beyond.

One short staircase up, you’ll find the bathroom, including a shower with a full-length window to the chestnut grove out the back.

Up top there’s a mezzanine-style bedroom. It contains a king-size bed and a luxurious spa bath for whiling away a cosy night in. Wake to the cottage’s leafy exterior on three sides of the room, before going downstairs to sit on the deck with a warming cup of tea.

The kitchen is equipped with locally baked sourdough, eggs, bacon, butter, jams, cereals, milk, coffee and apple juice from the owner’s apple farm.

There are books, magazines, DVDs and Wi-Fi if the landscape isn’t quite holding your attention; and bikes available to ride the short distance to The Wandi Pub or explore the wider region.
