Bungalow Neigbourhood Social
Spread across various spaces within a large complex, Bungalow is one of the few bars in the state where you can preface a drinking session with a workout at the gym next door.
Its rustic breeze blocks and wooden features are faithful to the ’60s mid-century aesthetic. The al fresco area is designed to make the most of the warm weather, and it’s not uncommon to see a DJ grace the decks out here.
And while much of the space has a certain retro charm, the food and drink offering is thoroughly contemporary. Woodfired sourdough pizza, and small plates such as Peruvian-spiced fried chicken are the perfect foil for the 16 craft taps behind the bar. Spritzes and gin-based cocktails also are on offer—but the house specialty is wine, with Bungalow’s list almost exclusively made up of lo-fi styles from new-wave producers.
For those eager to geek out on the grape side of things, consider making a booking for the dedicated 40-seat Wine Room, where the 100-bottle selection leans right into minimal-intervention territory.
Bungalow also hosts monthly wine tastings, where local winemakers pour and discuss their wares alongside a selection of other drops. Each guest also have the option to curate the night’s all-vinyl playlist: heightening Bungalow’s ‘60s feel.
