Features
Ti Ama is couple Isabella Lubiana and Joel Edwards’s (also behind Local Pizza) love letter to Italian cuisine. Yet the playful diner is far from your traditional trattoria: it has baby pink and peppermint green accents, plenty of reflective disco balls and a mirror-tiled pizza oven.
That’s where most of the magic happens. Lubiana’s Italian heritage has informed the use of a 72-hour sourdough base, which is topped with high quality produce before being blasted in the disco-themed woodfired oven. The result is a blistered and chewy base that’s a delight to tear apart and eat. A popular flavour has been the King Kofta V2.0, with its capsicum base, topped with lamb kofta, yoghurt, za’atar and fresh herbs. A hearty meat-free option is the Mush-Go, topped with mushrooms, garlic, red onion, gorgonzola, olives and parmesan. Ti Ama caters to a few dietaries: it offers gluten-free bases, plus a cashew cheese option for dairy-free or vegan diners.
Beyond the pizza, the share-friendly theme continues across the antipasti and pasta offerings. The latter offers plates of saffron and mozzarella arancini balls, and mozzarella, zucchini, and walnut pesto, while from the pasta section it’s got to be the fettuccini with slow-cooked brisket ragu.
The wine list is tight but covers most bases, with Ti Ama’s own sauvignon blanc, alongside options from Stefano Lubiana (Isabella’s father), Delinquente and Ngeringa. There are also cocktails including the playful watermelon spritz, which marries vodka with watermelon, mint, lime and prosecco. It’s an ideal way to kick off a disco-themed pizza party.
