Australian Fashion Week is here. Across five days, some of the country’s most exciting designers – from emerging first-timers to established heavyweights – showcase their latest collections to trade and consumer audiences. The event’s new home base at the Museum of Contemporary Art, alongside many offsite locations, switches up Carriageworks’ industrial, brick-laden backdrop.
Broadsheet photographer Meaghan Coles snapped this year’s best street style outside warehouses, theatres, galleries and heritage sandstone buildings.
On the streets, we spotted soft tailoring, sharp suits and asymmetrical cuts. Oversized sunglasses dominated, vintage designer handbags were the accessory of choice, and faux-fur collars made a subtle statement.
Jackets were the main focus – and not just because of Sydney’s untimely rain. Funnel neck styles, cropped trenches and collarless outerwear prove that staying warm won’t cost you style points. Here’s the best street style we saw.
