Matt Moran’s first foray into Canberra hospo was a one-two punch. The big ticket item was Italian steakhouse, Compa Ristorante. But the city also scored & Sando, a deli-style sandwich shop next door bringing a taste of Sydney’s “sandwich explosion” to the capital.
& Sando has 18 seats for dine-in, but the full menu is available for take-away. Sandwich highlights include the Spicy Deli on sourdough (cold-cuts, tomato, pickled carrot, provolone on sourdough slices); and the Chix Schnitz (tomato, cabbage slaw, provolone) on ciabatta. There’s also a made-to-order steak sanga, with premium beef from Compa.
To go with your two-hander, there are croissants, burnt Basque cheesecakes, and the vanilla and cardamom buns from Mawson’s Under Bakery. Plus, coffee by influential Sydney roaster, Single O.
