Occupying a small tenancy next door to the Canvas Club, The Tailors is hidden, as the name suggests, behind what looks like a gentleman’s tailor shop.

It’s a different style of venue for owner Dan Rodriguez (Electric Avenue, Mr Badgers), who likes to tell stories within stories using intricate designs and details. This place is a straight-up cocktail lounge inspired by his travels through South America, where beautiful music-driven boozers hide behind unassuming facades.

To find it, look for the window display on Logan Road housing a pair of mannequin busts, a sewing machine and a clothes trunk. Step through the door and you’ll be met with a full-length mirror that swings open to reveal a 50-seat cocktail bar with refined timber panelling, velvet banquettes and mirror-lined walls. On the backside of the shop window is a bandstand, which features live music on weekends.

From the rotating drinks list, you might sip on a Golden Humming Bird (white rum with vanilla liqueur, triple sec, sugar and topped off with prosecco), a Cohiba (a milk-washed creation of spiced Bacardi with coffee liqueur, orange, lemon and falernum), or a Paradise (spiced rum with cognac, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla and lemon). There’s also a 50-bottle collection of rum sourced mostly from the Caribbean and Central America.

Bar snacks and share boards come from Canvas next door. Expect baby sardines with ciabatta, marinated olives, and cheese and charcuterie selections.
