Qualia, at the northernmost tip of the Whitsundays’ Hamilton Island, has long enjoyed a reputation for being one of Australia’s premier resorts. It has individual pavilions, secluded from one another by lush tropical vegetation.
Outside your room, there’s plenty to do. Free use of your own golf buggy comes with your booking. It gives you free rein to navigate around Hamilton Island at your own pace. Qualia also has Pebble Beach, its own private beach (there’s a beachside infinity pool, too). Other activities include boat tours and sunset cruises to the Great Barrier Reef. There’s also the Hamilton Island Golf Club, Australia’s only 18-hole championship golf course on its own island.
At Qualia there are two in-house restaurants: fine-diner Long Pavilion and Asian-inspired Pebble Beach. If you’d rather order room service, meals from any of Hamilton Island’s 10 other restaurants are available to order in.
Hamilton Island is the only island in the Whitsundays to have its own airport. It’s a 90-minute flight from Brisbane, a two hour flight from Sydney, or three hours from Melbourne.
