Planning on travelling to Seoul any time soon? Because Jetstar today launched direct flights between the Gold Coast and the South Korean capital. It's the first low fare service directly linking Australia and South Korea.
The three-per-week codeshare service with Jeju Air will be operated by 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. Besides taking Australians to South Korea, Jetstar estimates the flights will deliver up to 50,000 additional travellers into the Gold Coast each year, adding $170 million to the Queensland economy.
Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans said in a media release that South Korea has the potential to become one of the most popular Asian destinations for Australian travellers.
“By introducing low fares to Seoul, we expect that South Korea will be a country that jumps to the top of many Australian traveller’s bucket lists,” Evans said. “Seoul and its surrounding regions offer visitors the opportunity to explore South Korea’s rich cultural history, vibrant nightlife and food scene."
The first flights take to the sky on December 8. To celebrate the launch Jetstar is offering customers fares from $179 one way in a 12-hour sale starting today. See here for sale details.
