Jon Grainger was working as a police officer in Ipswich when he sustained a back injury. During his recovery he became interested in the healthy plant-based diets as seen in documentaries such as Food Matter and Food Inc.
Evolve Organics (formerly Press’d) is the result of these learnings. His cafe offers raw meals, nutrient-dense smoothies and fresh cold-press juices – all things tough to find out on the beat, where the Simpson’s Chief Wiggum stereotype apparently isn’t far from the truth.
Originally located in the densely gym-populated inner ‘burb of Newstead, Evolve Organics quickly outgrew its original Antiques Centre home. Now it’s a full-service cafe, complete with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, astroturf and a kitchen kitted-out with its own industrial-spec cold-press juicer.
Post workout, pop in for a Vanilla Protein ‘Mylk’ Shake (almond milk, cinnamon, raw protein, almonds and banana), a Super Green cold press juice (a mix of ten organic vegetables), or the eggs benny with vegan hollandaise (AKA dill cashew cream). Finish it off with a Toby’s Estate coffee and dessert to go. Even without eggs, grains, gluten and refined sugars, you might be surprised how good sweets can taste.
