Sandwiched between a hairdresser and pet supply store in Tarragindi, Esher St Cafe and Deli rewards those keen to explore Brisbane's southern suburbs.
Current owners Peggy and Emmanuel Sakelaris took the reins of the buzzing business in late 2015 from original founders Jia and Nikki Brooks, Fergus Parker and Sep Marchitto (Honor Food Co., Stalks and Stems, Alcove).
Wary of getting the loyal regulars offside, the new team has mostly kept the menu intact – dukkah-spiked avocado smash and pumpkin chickpea fritters included – but you can expect a splash of Mediterranean fare these days.
The space is shabby-chic and homely. Mismatched chairs fill the footpath at the front; whitewashed wooden furnishings gather in the courtyard out back. Inside is a cabinet full of cakes (Peggy’s handiwork) and a mix of take-home treats.
