When celebrated ramen cook Taro Akimoto received news that his Edward Street shop would have to shut down due to renovations, he immediately set about finding a replacement. The result is Taro’s Ramen in Stones Corner. It retains much of the Edward Street shop’s previous fit-out, with exposed brick and wooden features giving the space the feel of a cosy hideaway.
The ramen is still what people flock to Taro’s for though, and his is the bowl by which all others in Brisbane are judged – particularly his tonkotsu broth. It’s prepared with house-made noodles, Bangalow pork and organic eggs. Broths are carefully pressure-cooked and Akimoto continues to fine-tune his recipe. The rest of the menu is rounded out by a selection which includes vegan ramen and cold noodle offerings.
Taro’s Stones Corner is BYO. there’s also Suntory Premium Malts and Orion on tap..
