The Jetty South Bank
An avid surfer and chef, Jason Coats has spent most of his life between the kitchen and ocean. He grew up in Noosa and started his career as a chef there, then moved to Brisbane, travelling regularly to Bali to surf.
He opened The Jetty after being inspired by the island’s relaxed atmosphere, globally minded community and thriving beach-club culture. It’s Brisbane’s very own slice of Bali, Bintang beers and all.
It has become the go-to place to hang out and enjoy the city’s best asset: the sunshine. It’s impossible not to feel relaxed on one of the day beds, lazing on a bar stool or congregating around the horseshoe-shaped “captain’s table” booth, most of which were handpicked in Bali. The service is quick and equally accommodating for those grabbing a quick coffee or large groups attending a function.
The food menu is as modern as the decor, drawing inspiration from around the world. There's Greek kofta teamed with tzatziki; enoki mushrooms with fried tofu; and a juicy Wagyu burger.
If you just want to enjoy the sunset with a cocktail, The Jetty caters for that, too. You’re A Sucker is a nice take on the traditional Caipiroska, with passionfruit and a pineapple juice adding the necessary sugar kick. The Espresso Martini will give you a different sort of kick. The beer and wine lists are succinct, varied and lean mainly towards local drops.
