When Melbourne favourite Stokehouse crossed state lines and opened a Queensland location in 2011, few could have guessed its staying power. But these days, Stokehouse Q feels every bit a Brissy local – with the loyal following to match.
It’s in South Bank's Riverbend precinct and has open-plan dining, spacious decks and sweeping views of the Brisbane River and CBD. This indoor-outdoor layout lends itself to long lunches and balmy summer evenings enjoying the weather.
The produce-driven menu has Mediterranean influences with a big focus on locally sourced products. It's elevated yet remains approachable. Its take on fish and chips involves soda batter, triple-cooked chips, seaweed salt and tartare sauce. And there’s a rack of pork that comes with caramelised pecans and spiced pineapple. The signature dessert is The Bombe, a white-chocolate parfait with strawberries and toasted meringue.
For a more casual experience, the venue's Stokebar Q serves bar snacks, a substantial cocktail list and DJs on Sundays. The space is also available for functions, ranging from private dining on the mezzanine level to whole-venue hire for weddings.
