Every day of the week, Sourced Grocer rolls open its warehouse-sized doors for another day of filling the bellies and pantries of locals.

Amid the casual setting of cushioned milk crates and a leafy indoor vertical garden at ground level, regulars (plus dogs and/or prams) flock for their caffeine fix or healthy smoothie. On the mezzanine above, others digest the Courier Mail along with the ever-popular avocado on sourdough with smoked labneh.

Owned and run by perpetual traveller Jerome Batten (who also owns Gauge and Maker), the concept of Sourced Grocer stems from a fascination with fresh produce markets around the world. Captivated by crowded food markets, their culture of eating local and the sense of community they fostered, Batten was inspired to create a version of his own.

Stocking the best produce from the Sunshine Coast, the Granite Belt and the Northern Rivers region, as well as carefully selected goods from interstate, Sourced Grocer consciously advocates fresh, locally sourced goods – both for its kitchen and yours.

With a menu that changes seasonally, you may find bircher made with Barambah Organics yoghurt; housemade crumpets with Brisbane’s Bee One Third local neighbourhood honey; or toasted ciabatta with Queensland tiger prawns.
