At Nodo Donuts, doughnuts are a breakfast food. And not just on your birthday. Selling baked (not fried) doughnuts, owner Kate Williams goes against tradition.
The cafe has a signature range – which is free from gluten, artificial ingredients and, in some cases, dairy. There are also raw doughnuts that have been dehydrated for nine hours.
Variations include raspberry white chocolate; a dedicated breakfast doughnut (made with banana and Greek yoghurt); and blueberry-lemon cheesecake. These are the staples, but new flavours are always in the works.
Staying true to Williams’ focus on wholesome foods, the rest of the menu is also made from natural, unrefined ingredients. Expect nourishing super shakes, various bowls, a bunch of cooked options and other snacks to go.
Coffee is a special Nodo roast by the Gold Coast’s Barefoot Barista, the chai is a sticky honey-roasted blend by Melbourne’s Prana Chai, and tea is by Byron Bay’s Mayde Tea.
