Jet Black Cat
Features
Shannon Logan started selling records at the West End markets. Later, the demand for her well-curated selection grew so strong, it was time for a permanent store. At its new home, Jet Black Cat continues to accrue a following of young vinyl enthusiasts who visit Logan regularly, sometimes just to chat about music.
The tiny store emits a decidedly warm community spirit, with other local stores rallying support for its special events. With Logan and her unbridled passion for music at its helm, Jet Black Cat has hosted the likes of Courtney Barnett, Alpine and The Growlers for intimate in-store shows to crowds of 30 people.
Along with music trivia nights, Record Store Day celebrations and gigs, Jet Black Cat’s offers a wide range of limited edition, re-release and classic records. The store covers all genres of music, from hip-hop to jazz, soul to indie pop, and everything in between.
The name of the store pays homage a family cat Logan cherished growing up, and really, you can’t help but feel that same warmth and love when she welcomes you at the store.
