GOMA Store
Features
For most of us, Margaret Preston’s waratah flowers and the bright Yayoi Kusama prints adorning GOMA’s walls can only ever be gallery delights. But a tea towel print is one way to take high-end art home with you.
The GOMA Store has a reputation for its range of unusual and fun gifts, but if you ask a serious art lover – it’s best known for an impressive catalogue of Australian art books.
The Gallery of Modern Art’s namesake shop stocks a massive range of art, design, non-fiction and personal development books related to the arts, along with rare titles and books that reflect the themes of current exhibitions.
But it also stocks a curated range of quirky jewellery and ceramics, and bright and fun art products. Expect to find high-end jewellery and homewares from local and national artisans including Dinosaur Designs, Bianca Mavrick, Holly Ryan and Anna Varendorff. Melbourne brand Third Drawer Down is behind a range of fun tea towels, socks, clutches and flasks printed with artworks. And, like GOMA’s excellent children’s programming, the store offers a range for kids that will challenge and inspire creativity.
Two sister stores inside the nearby Queensland Art Gallery also each have a different range of art products, books and intriguing objects. All profits go back to the state galleries, supporting future exhibitions, public programs and purchases of new works.
