Christina and James Meagher live and breathe Danish lifestyle and mid-century modern design, from polished sideboards to leather egg chairs. The couple (She’s a Dane, he’s an Aussie) opened Dansk in 2010 in Woolloongabba’s design district, and it’s since become the city’s go-to for design savvy buyers.
James has been collecting and selling furniture since he was a teenager and meticulously restores the pieces they source from all over the world. Thanks to his craftsmanship and the timelessness of Danish design, the pieces sold at Dansk look as good as new. From teak and oak vanities to curvy green couches and shiny leather armchairs, it’s hard to resist touching every smooth surface throughout the store.
In true Danish style, the space is simple so that each piece can be appreciated in all its sleek, functional and minimalist glory, and furniture is complemented by a range of carefully chosen ceramics, art, rugs and quirky pieces for the home. Even those on the narrowest of budgets can enjoy a little Dansk in their life.
