After a change of ownership and name in late 2014, Remy’s (formerly The Rogue Renard) set out to fill the void that is casual neighbourhood dining. Owner Dane Huitfeldt and his team know the value of doing just a few things well – coffee and simple meals early, burgers and beers late.

With Remy’s, it’s the little things that matter. Take a quick peek inside the kitchen – you’ll see chefs scrubbing and cutting fries by hand, making relishes and slicing the venue’s famous kaiserfleisch bacon into generous one-centimetre slabs.

Whether you choose to try a ham and cheese toastie, or the breakfast chorizo mince with poached eggs, you can be sure it’s been made with care.

The night-time menu has been kept simple, with just five different types of burgers. The Mao Bao is the stand out, pairing slow-roasted pork belly with kimchi. Choose a bottled craft beer to accompany – it’s a winning combination.

Fridays and Sundays see a rotating list of local DJs spinning vinyl. On the former, you might enjoy a glass of rosé while listening to some Balearic house, or on the latter, share a cocktail jug with friends at the hip-hop barbeque.

Whatever your group’s size, though, the venue’s picnic-style tables or intimate bench seating will feel just right.
