A family trip to the Big Apple gave NKB Express owners TJ and Kim Peabody the inspiration to create their little slice of retro.
Following the success of their first venture Nantucket Kitchen, the couple knew it was time to open NKB Express, a cheerful post-war-style American diner with a New York twist. Located just a short walk away from Nantucket Kitchen, NKB is for you if you prefer cheery Happy Days over Conde Nast Massachusetts chic.
Nantucket Kitchen fans will be delighted to see the onion rings with chipotle barbeque sauce and freshly baked cherry pies make appearances here. But really it’s all about the hot dogs, bagels, waffles and burgers.
Named after NYC districts, the burgers range from the Meat Packer (wagyu, bacon jam), through to the Chelsea (turkey mince, cranberry relish). There’s even the Chinatown burger for non bread-eating paleo fans in the, where you can order anything off the burger menu, with the contents wrapped in lettuce rather than in a bun (just like san choy bao).
To complete the classic diner-style experience, pair your meal with a soda, spider or old-fashioned milkshake. There’s classic vanilla or the chocolate Oreo with malt. Alcohol is split between American and Australian labels, taking in Budweiser and Coors in addition to Batlow cider and Stone & Wood ale.
