At pan-Asian diner Longwang, head chef Jason Margaritas wants to serve flavours and dishes Brisbane diners have never tried before.

Inspired by his East Timorese heritage and his love of Chinese and Cantonese cooking, the former Same Same chef’s menu showcases the nuance that spice can deliver when led by a steady hand.

You’ll find everything from light curries to spicy stir fries, and South Australian pipis cooked to order with a choice of sauces and sides. But we say go for one of the banquets – the most inexpensive option (Longwang's Rabbit Banquet) might include chicken bao; crispy squid with tom yum salt and cherry tomato nahm jim; wok-tossed noodles with local mushrooms; and more.

Longwang lives inside a narrow, high-ceilinged building between two CBD office blocks. The space is comfortable and familiar, but it also feels dynamic like a big-city restaurant should – a perfect match for Margaritas’s approach in the kitchen.
