Menus

There’s no classic pasta menu, gnocchi is served with kale and you can order a plate of prosciutto to enjoy with a glass of red wine. Welcome to Coppa Spuntino, the flag-bearer for Brisbane’s new wave of Italian eateries.

Spuntino translates to “snack” and snacks are all you’ll find at this aperitif bar and pizzeria. The plates are designed to be shared, grazed on and paired with Coppa’s large wine list. Sounds like tapas? Well yes, but in Italian, it’s “bacaro”.

The wine list is almost solely Italian, rounded out by Italian-influenced Australian vino. Dual wood-fired ovens roar at the back of the restaurant – one gets filled with a rotation of pizzas, the other fed octopus and more. The sleek space is usually populated with couples sharing cheese or chacuterie plates, co-workers knocking off for an aperitivo or friends meeting for a casual dinner.

Neither owner is Italian, but a love of the cuisine led Tom Sanceau and Bonnie Shearston (who also own Red Hook together) to open Coppa, together with their usual interior designer, Adam Laming.
