Ciao Papi
Features
Ciao Papi is in the space that once housed the acclaimed Arc Wine Bar. It initially began as a pop-up but turned permanent when Arc closed permanently in 2020.
The decor has had a mild makeover and there's a short menu of Italian flavours fused with Australian produce. There's a tidy range of pasta dishes to share, and all of the carby heavy-hitters – from rigatoni with ragu to gnocchi to fusilli with herb pesto – are here. The sides menu is heavy on the warm weather salads, with fries and steamed green dishes added in for good measure.
There's also a small roster of pizza, with two styles – Napoli-style and thin-and-crisp – to choose from. The line-up changes regularly, but classics such as Margherita always show up, and there'll always be one or two that come topped with San Daniele prosciutto or nduja. For dessert, it's hard to go past a tiramisu or affogato.
A weekend-only breakfast menu combines brunch staples with Italian flavours. Think Eggs Benedict with prosciutto, poached eggs with ragu, and a mortadella and fried egg roll.
