Betty’s Burgers Howard Smith Wharves
Features
Betty’s Burgers first opened in Noosa in the 90’s, and the burger icon has been migrating closer and closer to Brisbane’s heart ever since. The Howard Smith Wharves outpost is the 19th store for the Australian burger chain, and the fourth in Brisbane.
Set back from the river under Fantauzzo hotel, Betty’s has the same instantly recognisable look as its counterparts – beach-bum orange chairs with aquamarine cushions and pot plants in macramé hangers – but it has a more open design. It lends the restaurant some eye-popping views over Felons Brewing Co towards the Story Bridge and the CBD beyond, and provides a much-needed family orientated casual dining option at Howard Smith Wharves.
Slotted into a hotel in the middle of a heaving tourist spot – and near the water, no less – Betty’s already strong DNA feels particularly potent here, capturing the spirit of the Noosa original.
The burgers are what you’d expect at a Betty’s – classic beef, fried chicken, mushroom and crispy pork belly. You can swap in a gluten-free bun or order it bare (no bun, just a lettuce wrap). There are also onion rings and fries. Dessert is a Concrete – a creamy, house-made frozen custard ice-cream (which is also folded into the restaurant’s thickshakes) offered in a variety flavours, including peanut butter brittle and lemon raspberry cheesecake.
