When Julie Tjiandra envisioned the space that was to be Scrumptious Reads, she was going for something that read "kitchen library", an amalgam of cosy and stimulating. And the space is precisely that – from the shelves lining the walls, to the stacks of local ceramics on every surface, to the large dining table in the centre of the store scattered with magazines and periodicals.

In addition to serving the culino-literary needs of Red Hill, Scrumptious Reads hosts a constantly evolving line-up of pop-ups and events. The very first Monocle store in Australia was held here, and on any given night you might find an adult colouring-in evening, a book signing, a honey tasting, or a food styling workshop.

Inspired by a life well spent, with plenty of travel, and a passion for food history and science, the idea for Scrumptious Reads is not a simple cookbook store. It’s a culinary specialty bookstore. Here you will find culinary literature on history, science, fiction, non-fiction, short and long form writing from all over the world.
