Features
Patio is a neighbourhood bar in Rosalie Village by Range Brewing, one of the country’s best breweries and a specialist in hazy beer styles.
But Patio is a different proposition to Range’s Newstead and Melbourne taprooms. For one, there aren’t any takeaway cans available – just 10 beer taps and two wine taps made in collaboration with Latta Vino. All of them change regularly, in keeping with Range’s motto: forever exploring, forever evolving.
Fans of the Newstead venue will be pleased to find the full Jacopo’s Pizza menu on offer, along with exclusives such as gildas (Spanish skewers), a sardine and radish toast, and charred broccolini with black miso.
Owners Gerard Martin and Matt McIver – with the help of their team – designed and built the entire fit-out from scratch within three months. The interior space looks like an old-fashioned Aussie bar with lots of dark timber hewn from native Australian spotted gum, and a beautiful 18-metre-bar that hosts Martin’s beloved vintage bar stools.
On the right of the bar, there’s a small space with large bi-fold windows and a pair of antique Japanese speakers attached to the wall. Another area – dubbed the “living room” – features a mix of seating options and a TV quietly showing sport.
But the namesake patio area is where you want to be on a cracking Brisbane day. It’s filled with lots of brick, burgundy-tiled tables and a timber bench seat. A walkway leads you past a large fairy light-wrapped tree and into the courtyard.
