Features
Rogue Bistro’s jet-black exterior is a red herring for what you’ll find beyond the sliding door. Spanning six colourful courses, the degustation at this modern Australian diner ranks among Brisbane’s best, with alternative menus for vegan, veg, pesc, seafood-free, dairy-free and gluten-free diets on offer.
The drinks program is similarly comprehensive, with a robust wine cellar and plenty of considered nonalc options behind the bar. There’s no guessing when it comes to cocktails, and you should definitely order one here. Standouts include the Tropical and Tangy – a tall drink giving island vibes – made with Applewood gin, lychee, coconut and lime.
Owner-chef Dan Myers is a veteran of Brisbane’s dining scene, having worked at Eleven Rooftop Bar, The Jetty Southbank, The Jetty Oxford before opening Rogue in 2013. The restaurant has since become a highlight in Newstead's dining scene, and has a sibling in The Refinery, one of Brisbane's premier wedding and function venues.
