Usually held over nine days in August, the Ekka – or the Royal Queensland Show, if you want to be formal – attracts around 400,000 visitors each year, making it the largest annual event in the state.
Sadly, this year’s Ekka was cancelled due to Covid-19. But the Ekka Public holiday, which historically takes place on a Wednesday, has been rescheduled to Friday October 29. So there’s still a chance to put your feet up on a rare weekday off.
Whether you need a coffee, a beer or a meal, these hard-working cafes, bars and restaurants are staying open to sort you out.
