A fascination with suburban hardware stores and a love for the great outdoors lead Matt Brady to revamp his humble menswear store into the modern general store it is today.
Situated in Winn Lane since 2005, The Outpost has always offered quality menswear from brands such as Carhartt, Supply and Edwin, but it wasn’t until 2014 that the store started stocking products such as Stradbroke Island relish and Opinel knives imported from France.
It’s what Brady calls “a curated world within a world”. And it doesn’t just stop at quality goods: The Outpost has also hosted performances by the likes of eccentric musician Kirin J Callinan and local Brisbane band The Goon Sax, along with exhibitions by artists Stefan Marx and Cameron Hawes.
Word has it, some mornings Brady even hands out free coffee – reason enough to visit in person.
