Who is Miss Jones?

According to owners Daniel and Hannah Bowles the answer is: whoever you want it to be.

“We like the idea of having a name that could sound familiar and comfortable,” Dan says. “As if it [is] a personality.”

Miss Jones is the second cafe from the husband and wife team after opening popular New Farm spot Little Loco more than two years ago. Dan, who’s also a professional footballer for Brisbane Roar, describes Miss Jones as a “grown-up” version of Little Loco in the way the menu is set out and the space is fit out.

The Bowleses took over a section of an LJ Hooker building on the corner of Brunswick and Bowen Streets with a plan to “bring the pastels back”. The result: a bright room full of muted hues broken up by timber and greenery.

“We wanted to find somewhere with a good balance between business and residential,” Dan says. “We feel like we’ve done that well here.”

The all-day breakfast menu includes a crowd favourite eggs Benedict with hash and cheddar waffle, avocado, chorizo, chipotle hollandaise and poached eggs, as well as a healthy Green Breakfast: spinach, broccolini, kale, goat’s cheese, poached eggs and balsamic on sourdough. The lunch menu start at 11.30am and includes corn and chorizo tacos, and a Kewpie chicken burger.

A La Marzocco espresso machine pours the Paradox blend from Sydney’s Single O coffee roasters, and there are also shakes and HRVST ST juices.
