Green Beacon’s Oyster Festival has become a late-November staple in recent years: the Teneriffe brewpub matches piles of molluscs with specially made oyster stouts.
This year, though, the event is going widescreen, rebranding as the Salty Days: Seafood Block Party and taking over Helen Street in the process.
Over 600 square metres there will be live music; two bars; and a pop-up seafood stall offering freshly shucked oysters, Mooloolaba king prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, calamari and barbequed seafood. There will also be two special-release oyster stouts this year.
The event runs from 11am to 8pm on November 25 (the party will move inside the brewery once the sun sets). There’ll even a bucking bull for those who like to mix oysters, beer and flailing wildly in front of a crowd.
