Will anything stop the slow march of Hakataya Ramen across Brisbane? Once a Sunnybank staple that attracted city slickers into the southern suburbs, it now has outlets in Indooroopilly, the Myer Centre, Eight Mile Plains and Garden City (as well as the Gold Coast).

Now a second CBD restaurant has opened on Queen Street Mall and to celebrate, Hakataya is giving away free ramen. From 12pm today you can get a signature nagahama bowl of ramen for no charge. The offer will last until the restaurant runs out of ramen soup.

The new digs are slightly hidden in a subterranean tenancy on the mall. Look for the stairwell next to Wallace Bishop. The event page asks customers to help by forming an orderly queue, which you can probably interpret as: prepare for a buttload of people.

Otherwise, lunch sorted.
