Brisbane’s CBD will get a new specialty coffee joint; The Single Guys is opening a second edition of its enormously popular cafe later this month.

Established in 2013 by friends Ben Graham and Scott Wilson, the Kenmore original was sold to Janey Guo in mid-2016. Since late last year, Guo has been planning a second venue with soon-to-be CBD cafe manager, Jason Field. “It’s different to the original,” Field says. “It is a new shop in its own individual way but with the same ideas that the Kenmore shop has.”

Taking over the space previously occupied by Bacano Coffee on 201 Charlotte Street, Studio Lagom’s Will Ryan is helping design a space with slight Scandinavian influences, oak elements and greenery offsetting a clean, white paint-job.

A Slayer Steam espresso machine will pump out coffee from former owner Graham’s Parallel Roasters. Other roasters will come on as “guests” every now and then to mix up the offering. The breakfast and lunch menu will be along the same lines as the Kenmore sibling.

There will also be a licensed bar with a selection of natural skin-contact wines and locally sourced beers on tap and in bottles.

The Single Guys will open at 201 Charlotte Street in late June
