The Sunnybank $2 Food Trail returns next month, taking over Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park Shopping Centre on Saturday June 22.
If you haven’t been before, the set-up is simple: 45 restaurants and food outlets serving up a heap of mini-dishes from 2pm to 8pm, with nothing costing more than a gold coin. You can expect everything from crispy pork noodles and pan-fried dumplings to fresh sushi, chicken katsu, bubble tea, hot cakes and beef pho noodle soup.
The 2019 trail will be the biggest yet, with the introduction of a new outdoor dining precinct outside the Sunnybank Plaza food court, a stage for live cooking demonstrations and an interactive cooking zone for kids.
“We’re so excited to be putting together our lucky eighth Sunnybank Food Trail,” Retail First marketing and community engagement manager Lisa Smith said in a media release. Retail First owns Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park Shopping Centre. “It has been incredible watching this event grow into one of the largest foodie events across the country, with thousands of guests from all over Queensland attending the trail.”
Given this is its eighth year in existence, the 2019 Sunnybank Food Trail is swinging hard on the number 8, which is considered to be lucky in Chinese culture. The event will be giving away over $8,888 in prizes.
A trail map to the event will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, start digging around for a heap of mates and a heap of gold coins.
The Sunnybank $2 Food Trail takes place on June 22. Entry is free. Keep an eye on Facebook for event updates.
