Update: The remaining three giveaways are now cancelled due to lockdown.
In case you missed it, Melbourne’s world-famous Lune Croissanterie is coming to Brisbane. To celebrate its opening in South Brisbane next week, founder and baker Kate Reid is giving away 100 free croissants every day for the next four days.
Reid announced the first location on Instagram this morning: the “Lune Mobile” will be at the Brisbane sign at South Bank at 9am – giving away 100 of Reid's traditional golden flaky croissants.
One lucky person will receive the “Golden Almond Croissant”, winning them two tickets to Lune Brisbane's first ever Lune Lab: a behind the scenes look at Reid’s new pastry lab and a first taste of the croissants before the store opens next week.
You can also take a photo of your croissant in front of the sign and post to Instagram (tagging @lunecroissant) to go into the running to win a box of six pastries in opening week (you’ll even get to skip the queue).
Lune's croissants have widely been lauded as some of the best in country – the New York Times even went so far as to ask, "Is the world's best croissant in Australia?".
"The classic beurre, with its holy balance of buttery heft and feathery flake, may be the finest you will find anywhere in the world, and alone worth a trip across the dateline," the Times wrote.
Lune currently has two outlets in Melbourne – one in the CBD and one in Fitzroy, in the city’s inner north – and pumps out up to 20,000 croissants each week.
Lune Brisbane will open its doors next week. Keep an eye on Broadsheet Brisbane for more details. Stay tuned to Lune's Instagram for more locations.
