Damian Griffiths knows how to throw a party. The Brisbane restaurateur and entrepreneur behind Doughnut Time (as well as Les Bubbles, Alfred & Constance and Limes Hotel) has a happy habit of dropping a stack of free sugary pucks every time he opens a new outlet for his ultra popular doughnut store (which is about once a month on average in Australia, on current form).

On Saturday, though, it’s Mister Fitz’s turn. The brand inspired by Griffiths’s grandmother’s homemade ice-cream launched two years ago and has been another almighty hit ever since, slowly expanding across Brisbane and now south into Sydney.

To celebrate the brand’s second birthday, Griffiths is throwing a party at Mister Fitz East Brisbane on Saturday, giving out free ice-cream sandwiches from 12pm to 1pm. If other Griffiths giveaways are any indication, get there early.

But the party is just the first event in what Mister Fitz is promising will be a month of birthday celebrations. It also doubles as the launch of a new summer menu that includes new ice-cream flavours and milkshakes.
