A cafe plating up 300 serves of avocado on toast on any given morning isn’t particularly notable. Except when it’s free.

That’s the equation tomorrow at Pawpaw Cafe in Woolloongabba, which from 7.30am to 11.30am will be dishing up everyone’s (or Australians’, at least) favourite breakfast. All that’s required is your presence.

To go with the 300 breakfasts are 300 coffees, because you can’t have one without the other, naturally.

The offer is a result of Pawpaw teaming up with Virgin Mobile, which has been running its “avo-cate” advertising campaign, spruiking “Fair Data” offerings and featuring angry farmers sticking up for put-upon millennials.

Avocado on toast has become something of a hot button topic since demographer Bernard Salt used an opinion piece in The Australian to make a now infamous connection between smashed avocado and housing affordability in Australia.
