The Flying Cock and The TBC Club to Close at the End of 2019

The Flying Cock and its basement-dwelling sister venue The TBC Club will close at the end of 2019, it has announced in a press release.
It will bring to an end a five-and-half-year stretch where the two venues became known as unfussy Friday and Saturday night drinking spots along with their potential for rip-roaring live entertainment.
“After five magical years of treating Brisbane revellers to a booze-soaked party ship, the decision has been made to drop an anchor on a very special chapter in Brisbane nightlife at the end of 2019,” the press release read.
A sample of the music acts that have passed through the doors of the Flying Cock and The TBC Club over the years makes for intimidating reading. Anderson Paak, A$AP Ferg, Diplo, Rae Sremmurd, Tkay Maidza, Rufus Du Sol, Disclosure and Flight Facilities have all played at the two-storey entertainment hub on the corners of Brunswick and McLachlan Streets.
“It’s as simple as our lease was coming up and we came to the conclusion that we’d had a really good run but we were ready to put that business to bed and let it go out with a bang,” says co-owner David Flynn. “We didn’t want it to just die out. We’d rather go out while we’re relatively on top.
“It still does great business but entertainment-led venues sometimes have a bit of a shelf life. We thought that we’d had a good run so let’s wrap it up.”
The two venues still have a stack of events coming up to see out their existence. You take a look at what’s coming up here.
