Doughnut Time. Can’t stop. Won’t stop. That’s how it feels, anyway, with local entrepreneur Damian Griffiths’ little doughnut bar that could making rapid inroads into the southern capitals.

But six months since he last opened a Brisbane store, Griffiths is back focusing on his home town, today opening a small stall at the entrance to the city’s King George Square bus station. And to celebrate, Doughnut Time is offering 1000 free doughnuts, 4–6pm today.

“When you’ve been opening a store every two weeks, six months does feel like a very long time,” says Doughnut Time creative director Adam Hunter. “We’ve gone through that rapid expansion but now it’s time to focus on our home town.”

The new stall is modelled on a vintage ticket booth and joins six other stores in Brisbane, two on the Gold Coast, nine in Sydney and three in Melbourne. Two further Brisbane stores, in Everton Park and East Brisbane, are to follow later in the year.

Doughnut Time King George Square will operate from 7.30am to late, seven days a week.
