After launching Patio by Range in Rosalie last year, the Range Brewing team is set to open another venue, Rays by Range in Camp Hill, in late September.

In a statement, Range’s co-founders Gerard Martin and Matt McIver said they hope Rays will be a “bright, sun-drenched, welcoming corner bar with the same feel as Patio”, which has garnered a loyal following thanks to its community-centric approach.

“When we opened Patio, we wanted to create a place where the community could come together, relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of good food and drink,” Martin said. “Rays is a natural extension of Patio.”

The new venue follows the closure of Range’s Melbourne taproom in June after three and a half years. At the time, the team announced, “[they had] made the tough decision to focus our energy on nurturing (and expanding) our hospitality offering in the sunny state of Queensland”.

Now we understand what they had in mind.

Rays will occupy the former Ze Pickle space on Martha Street, transforming the dark interior into a bright, sunlit venue with indoor and outdoor seating. The bar will feature 10 taps pouring Range beers and an Italian-focused menu.

“At Rays, we wanted to build on that same sense of community, while offering a space that reflects the unique character of Camp Hill and Coorparoo,” McIver said. “These neighbourhoods share that same warmth and charm as Paddington, and we’re excited to bring our take on a local watering hole to this part of town.”

Rays by Range Brewing will open at 4 Newman Avenue, Camp Hill in late September.
