A new level of access to Brisbane’s sky-high restaurant
Vertigo, the Brisbane Powerhouse restaurant taking dining to new heights (suspending guests 17 metres above the ground), is now accessible to wheelchair users. Australia’s first “vertical restaurant” has assembled a specialised team to conceptualise and construct a lightweight wheelchair, which will allow people with more complex mobility needs to participate in the high-altitude dining experience. Wheelchair sittings can be booked by emailing info@vertigobrisbane.com.au. Vertigo’s three-course dinner menu with matched wine (and its Sunday brunch menu) can be adapted to cater for most dietary requirements and costs $250 per person. Martinis, oysters and “shellies” at Frog’s Hollow
Adelaide’s Never Never Distilling Co is stopping into CBD saloon Frog’s Hollow today for an afternoon of Martinis, oysters and shellies (that’d be ice-cold gin poured into a freshly eaten oyster shell). It’s all to promote their Oyster Shell Gin, a boozy expression of the Australian coastline (incorporating Kangaroo Island oyster shells, waxflower, Tasmanian wakame, coastal daisy bush, saltbush and round mint) and built for seafood pairings, naturally. The crew at Frog’s Hollow will be serving oysters from SA’s Coffin Bay alongside Martinis made with the Oyster Shell Gin and Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth, plus other drinks like G&Ts and the brand’s bottled Gimlet cocktail, which is made with Oyster Shell Gin, apera (Australian wine made like sherry) and makrut lime leaf. Get there between 4pm and 6pm.
Ramen on the go, without leaving your car
This newly opened drive-through ramen restaurant on the Gold Coast claims to be Australia’s first. Ramen Danbo, which launched in Queensland in 2017 and now has six stores across the Gold Coast and Brisbane, has made it even easier to get your hands on its signature tonkotsu ramen (if you’re passing through Pimpama, that is). Like its dine-in and takeaway menu, you can customise your ramen exactly to your liking, from the broth to noodle firmness, spiciness and richness of your soup, to the toppings. Here’s hoping we see a drive-through at one of Ramen Danbo’s Brisbane locations (in Southbank, South Brisbane or the CBD) soon.

SUBSCRIBE NOWPoke and yolks
Popular Gold Coast spots Finn Poke and Two Yolks (both by hospitality team the Jacinto Group) will debut in Brisbane next month, with flagship stores opening side by side on Grey Street in Southbank. The former will have an array of colourful build-your-own poke bowls and tacos. Next door, Two Yolks will serve burgers oozing with gooey, bright orange (you guessed it) egg yolks from breakfast through to dinner (keep an eye out for the Anthony Bourdain-inspired mortadella burger).
