Fortitude Valley bar Alfred & Constance has reopened.

The news follows the earlier closure of the popular Fortitude Valley bar after former owner Damian Griffiths lost control of the business over a court action brought by his aunt and cousin. The decision meant Alfred & Constance fell into default with its bank.

NAB-appointed receivers have now taken over the business and began operating Thursday. The venue’s Facebook page and website have both been reinstated.

Venue management took to Facebook Thursday afternoon to announce the news.

“After a month of much needed R&R, we are back in business with beers & beats from Wednesdays-Sundays 11am until late!!” the social media post read.

The Courier Mail reported in late December that NAB had appointed McGrathNicol as receivers and managers over the two trading companies running Limes Hotel and Alfred & Constance.

Griffiths had been looking for buyers for Limes Hotel since 2015 and Alfred & Constance since 2016. According to the Courier report, receiver plans after reopening Alfred & Constance and Limes are to sell both as going concerns.

The A&C reopening follows Thursday's news that Damian Griffiths's Bubbles Bar and Bistro company, the former controlling entity of Les Bubbles, has gone into liquidation.
