White Pearl at Bille Brown Theatre
The Bille Brown Theatre is transforming into Clearday, a Singapore-based cosmetics startup, for its run of White Pearl, a new workplace comedy from emerging theatre talent Anchuli Felicia King.
It’s a searing satire of toxic workplaces that explores casual racism within Singapore’s beauty industry, focusing on the rise and fall of a fledgling company that found success selling shame and insecurity. Add a viral video to the mix and the team at Clearday slowly but surely starts to unravel over the course of the play.
White Pearl explores the multiplicity of Asian identity (and identities) while also exploring the influence held by English and American standards. The original production cast won the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Ensemble in 2019.
Tickets start from $35. Shows with Auslan interpretations and audio descriptions are also available.
