It’s time to banish sad floppy sandwiches and last night’s wilted leftovers for lunch. Dine BNE City, a new initiative from Brisbane is making it easier – and cheaper – to enjoy a stellar lunch throughout weekdays in May.
The city has partnered with a number of hospitality venues to reinvigorate dining in the CBD: whether you’re lunching, looking for exclusive signature set menus for supper, or want to sip and snack your way through the bustling bar scene – there is something for everyone.
The daytime specials are available at over 40 restaurants and bars including the likes of Rico, Naga Thai, Jumbo Thai, Port Office Hotel, Mr & Mrs G’s and more, ranging between $25 to $35 per person.
Snack on squid and a glass of Chardonnay with stunning river views at Latin-inspired Rico Bar and Dining, or feast on two very Thai different spreads: Naga along the Eagle Street Pier is cooking up a classic tamarind-rich pad thai with its house beer called Naga Laga, while Jumbo Thai inside the heritage-listed Hotel Embassy building has a two-person lunch banquet with pork dumplings, duck spring rolls, Wagyu curry puffs, Panang chicken curry, pork belly stir-fry and sides for $70.
Over at the Port Office Hotel enjoy a two-course meal where you can choose from market fish with SA mussels and saffron veloute, or a striploin with truffle chips and cos salad. At Mediterranean restaurant Goldfinch, options include chargrilled sirloin, beer-battered fish of the day and peri-peri chicken breast with a drink.
Elsewhere there’s sand crab lasagne in abalone sauce plus a glass of blanc de blanc from champagne bar Mr & Mrs G’s; flank steak with horseradish mashed potato and pinot noir from Fatcow Steak & Lobster’s; house-made gnocchi with a rich gorgonzola sauce from Alchemy; and a charcoal barbeque set from Brazilian eatery Navala, with tasting skewers of rump cap, striploin, chicken drummettes, Brazilian sausage, baby bell pepper and pickled onions.
Dine BNE City runs from May 13 to 30. See more information and a full range of participating restaurants.
